The COVID-19 pandemic and oil price crash have had an enormous impact on selling a home in Houston. There has been much uncertainty and doubt concerning the real estate market. Despite the current fears, Houston remains an attractive city to buy a home in.

Ten-year data showed that homes in the city had seen a 10% growth. Thirty geo market areas make up Houston, and out of these, only seven have registered a loss in value in the past five years. Maybe you’ve been asking yourself “how do I sell my house Houston?!” Well we can help you with the top 10 neighborhoods to buy a home in Houston.

Here are some of the top 10 neighborhoods to buy a home in Houston below:

River Oaks

River Oaks is one of the most expensive and exclusive neighborhoods to buy a home in the state. It is a 1,100-acre expanse of estates in the center of Inner Loop Houston. Homebuyers in Houston search of mansions for sale will find an excellent selection here. The average home price is $2,350,000.

Garden Oaks

The average home price in this neighborhood is $575,000, with a 10-year appreciation of 94%. It comprises about 1,400 homes in the north of the North Loop, lined by towering magnolias and towering pines. Though it is near business districts, it has retained its suburban feel.

Houston Heights

Houston Heights is a well-known historic district of the city. Currently, its median home price is $520,000, and it offers a superb downtown commute. It is popular because of its real estate appreciation and accessibility. It is so safe that it ranks amongst the city’s most walkable neighborhoods and offers top-notch educational facilities.

Cottage Grove

Cottage Grove has undergone a remarkable transformation in the past seven years. Luxury developments like Reserver at Washington, Patterson Heights, and Larkin at Cottage have elevated this community’s standing. The average home price is $411,500, an excellent deal for an exclusive community just 3 miles from Downtown Houston.

Briar Hollow

It is a combination of fabulous retail centers, gated communities, and towering condominiums. Briar Hollow is south of Memorial Park and west of River Oaks. Its median home value is $590,000. Residents are only minutes from Houston’s most exciting retail centers like Uptown Park and the Galleria.

Downtown Houston

With a median home price of $274,000, Downtown Houston is an exciting place to live. Most residents live and work here, making it attractive for many. However, the market is a bit tricky because home resale may be difficult due to home design issues. It has still seen a 10-year appreciation of 37%.

Timbergrove/Lazybrook

Timbergrove is a deed-restricted neighborhood that lies west of Houston Heights. It lies along the White Oak Bayou and is quite quaint with tree-lined streets, rolling terrain in large lots. The average home price is $491,000.

Memorial Park

Memorial Park is located 4 miles from Downtown Houston within the Inner Loop and is its most popular neighborhood. It has a ‘naturesy’ feel and is known for its many trails. It is filled with unique amenities such as an 18-hole municipal golf course covering over 300 acres and the Memorial Park Tennis Center. Its median home is valued at $1,495,000.

Midtown

This neighborhood has an average home price of $335,000 and has some of the best business, entertainment, employment, and retail spots in the city. It is among Houston’s most accessible neighborhoods and the most affordable areas of the city’s inner loop.

East Downtown

Also known as EaDo, the average home price of this neighborhood is $380,000. Until about ten years ago, it used to be a graveyard filled with abandoned restaurants and supermarkets. Now it is re-emerging due to developments like the MetroRail expansion and BBVA Stadium. The vibrant quality of this neighborhood wins it a spot in our top 10 neighborhoods in Houston list.
